Portland Portrait Photography
A portrait isn't just a picture. It's a record of who you were at a specific moment in time. The hopes, fears, and dreams you were carrying, the person you were growing into. That's what I'm looking for when I practice portraiture.

What We Offer
Portraits for every chapter of life.
-
Whether you're marking a milestone or simply want a photograph that finally feels like you, these sessions are built around your goals and desires. No occasion required. We'll find the mood, the setting, and the approach that fits where you are right now, and make something that actually reflects it.

Families are always in motion! Dynamics changing, kids growing up faster than anyone planned. A family portrait session isn't about freeze-framing something perfect. It's about documenting your family as it exists today: the way your kid still reaches for your hand, the particular chaos and tenderness of this exact season in your life.
-
Some of the most meaningful relationships in a life aren't romantic or familial. A session with your closest people, your chosen family, the friends who have been there through everything — these images have a staying power that surprises people. We'll keep it loose, fun, and honest.
My Process
Powerful
Portrait sessions are some of my favorite experiences as a photographer. Even if you'd never describe yourself as someone who gets nervous in front of a camera, being photographed (really photographed, not just snapped) demands something raw and real. I'm aware of that in every session, and I take the power of the camera seriously.
Personalized
My process starts before we ever meet in person. We'll talk through what you're hoping to capture, where you want to shoot, and what kind of images feel true to you. I'll come with ideas and visual references to help us find the tone, but the session itself always has room to breathe. Some of the most interesting portraits I've made came from a direction nobody planned for.
Kid-Friendly
If you're bringing kids, know that I genuinely love working with them. Every age, every temperament, every kid who absolutely does not want to be there — I've worked with all of them, and I've learned that the secret is to stop trying to get them to perform and start paying attention to who they actually are. That shift is where the real images live.
.
Relaxed
I shoot on location throughout Portland and the surrounding area. That means parks, neighborhoods, your home—wherever feels most comfortable for you and/or your family and friends. Sessions are unhurried by design, because the best moments rarely happen in the first twenty minutes.

That's more common than you think, and it's completely workable. I'm not looking for poses — I'm looking for you. A lot of my job is just creating the conditions where you forget you're being photographed, and then paying attention when that happens. The images that come from that place are almost always the ones people love most.

Most individual sessions run one to two hours. Family sessions typically run ninety minutes to two and a half hours — longer if there are young kids involved, because we build in time for the inevitable detours. I'd rather give a session room to find itself than rush through it.
-
We'll figure this out together. I love shooting in places that have personal meaning. Maybe a neighborhood you've lived in for years, a park your kids know by heart, your own backyard. If you're not sure, I have a running list of scenic Portland locations and can make recommendations based on the mood you're going for.

The golden hours (the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset) offer the most beautiful natural light. For families with young kids, I'll always work around nap schedules and energy levels. There's no point in scheduling a session at a time when everyone's going to be miserable!

Every session and package is a little different, and we'll go over the specifics when you book. What I can tell you is that I edit and deliver images I'm genuinely proud of, not a raw dump of everything I shot. You'll receive a carefully curated gallery that represents the best of what we made together.

Absolutely! And honestly, those are some of my favorite sessions. You don't need a reason to want a photograph that looks like you. Wanting to document yourself at this point in your life is reason enough.
